On Cloud shoes are gradually becoming the latest Running trend in the market, and all this for a number of reasons. Here is a glimpse of the past of On Dealing with Shoes and the former athlete who set the brand afloat in the Swiss Alps.
The Origins of Running
Has it ever occurred to you to plan to have that “chill” feeling while running? Olivier Bernhard did, and this vision led to the establishment of On, a company based in Switzerland that mainly involves the displaying of running shoes and apparel.
Bernhard, who was a professional sportsman earlier, had no intention to design the next running shoe; instead, he wanted to create the next running contact. Initially he had little to no training in footwear design, thus the first attempt at the use of a hose is seen in a shoe where portions of the hose are adhered directly to the sole of a conventional sport sneaker. It was not for the look of it but to get the feel of it—the actual feel of running on air.
After 13 years of sky-surfing patenting, by 2010, Bernhard, together with the co-institutor, established On Holding AG in Switzerland.
Within a decade of its operation, On has risen to fame and is even recognized as the number one fastest-growing athletic shoe brand in the United States of America. Out of the global vision of On Running Company, it is clear that comfort and quality of the shoes acted like a primary necessity that boosted the company’s growth in the market.
On control, shoes focused on presentation and design
enables the stability of the foot during every foot-to-ground contact. These “clouds” become just cushions, which then compress with the aim of lifting the foot off the ground and contributing to the responsive and comfortable feel of the running experience.
on’s focus on sustainability
If One is the only thing that matters, then sustainability should be a part of Not One’s operational strategy and not just the sustainability of the product.
It uses fossil-free material for manufacturing, and all its environmental impacts are minimal. For example, the latest Cloudsurfer shoe model is constructed of recycled polyester by 85% in total and 30% of overall material, and using the recycled yarns for embroiderers. Further, the term CleanCloudTM EVA foam in the outsoles is produced from captured carbon emissions in the latest release.
Apart from the materials, ON aims at creating closed-loop recycle systems for products that are used and returned for reuse and recycling.
On clouds, shoes
On Cloud is a complete range of shoes that has been outfitted with the CloudTec® system. Below are some of the best selected on-cloud shoes that you might consider wearing:
On Cloud Nova
It first released the Cloudnova in May 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, which could have been a very bad business decision, but it turned out to be the best. Co-founder David Allemann said that they intended to design a shoe that can be worn in all parts of your life when flexible boundaries between work and home are becoming less a matter of age and more a reality.
As most employees have been seen working in comfortable clothes at home, there was a need to come up with a shoe that can be used for both running and for normal occasions. That is how Cloudnova was created to cater for those needs of consumers.
It is constructed with the CldTec system and a Speedboard® midsole, which provide better cushioning for better performance in exercises. It comes in shiny black or white, which keeps its modern design in mind.
It is just as versatile and can be bought in different colors, but instead of the pink sole, some have a bright pink or other shades of the range on the CloudTec® sole.
Cloud Monster
What happens when you mix a purple monster and an On running shoe and all the safety and coziness that comes with it? Well, there is the Cloud Monster, per se, of course. Looking at this shoe, it is quite elevated with a CloudTec® sole that provides maximum cushioning. Whereas initially released in a dark purple color, the Cloud Monster sneaker is available in several colorways, the most noticeable of which are all black, all white, and neon orange.
The addition of a 2022 Contend model is fairly recent, and this model is still suitable for a fast road run or an ultra marathon.
On Cloud 5
Using On’s CloudTec® technology, On got the distinctive appearance as well as feel in the Cloud 5. Combined with a Zero-gravity foam midsole and the Speedboard®, it is the perfect lifestap shoe; it is comfortable, stylish, and durable, perfect for wearing on any occasion.
The engineered mesh upper for correct ventilation and the appropriate foot shape support comfortable foot containment. Plus, with On Cloud 5’s Speed Lacing system, which is bungee laces passing over the eyelets and tied using a knot, you do not have to tie and untie the laces.
Cloud Swift
Based on this, ON is preparing to debut the third generation of its Cloud Swift shoes. The initial Cloud Swift was launched in 2019, and it includes the company’s HeliuM Super Foam.
The Cloud Swift is a very light shoe that has been specifically developed for great ground feel; it is therefore ideally suited to urban running. Clouds seen on the sole are distended to form a series of bubbles, which in a way improves both design and functionality. It is available in low-visibility colors like gray, lavender, or white and light green and is one of the best-designed and performing shoes out there.
On Cloud X 3
While there have been many athletic shoes that have tried to market themselves as all-singing, all-dancing shoes in the past, the On Cloud X 3 really does do a bit of everything. No matter the activity you are participating in, be it cross-training, strengthening workouts, or short runs, this shoe is for you.
Featuring On’s CloudTec® system, the trainer promises lightweight comfort, and powerful push-off benefits. Speedboard technology provides stability and at the same time guarantees comfortable sliding. Nike designs an engineered mesh upper in three layers; this makes it lightweight, breathable, and comfortable for women’s feet; the star lacing system will keep the shoe secure while reducing the pressure on the top of the shoe in the toe area.
On The Roger
Swiss tennis star Roger Federer uses On Shoes on the court and off it; beginning in 2019, he teamed up with On Running and went on to collaborate on the design.
Together they came up with The Roger, released in 2021, which is On’s first pro-tennis shoe. Unlike the other On models, it lacks the large hollowed tubes of the CloudTec® sole, but it does incorporate advanced technology. The cushioning and the performance upgrades are also installed into the sole along with another famous component, which is the Speedboard.
On Shoes and Apparel in Pop Culture
Running shoes are created to provide an entirely new way of experiencing running, so athletes will find the On Shoes perfect for them. But this has not only affected the world of sports; the creative works of art have surpassed the expected outcome.
Influencers and celebrities enjoy the high level of support provided by the shoes, along with their rather bright colors, which underline the brand’s simplicity. On top of that, consumers find sustainable brands appealing, and One’s commitment to sustainability certainly wins the consumer over.
With such features combined, it wasn’t a surprise to see that everyone, from athletes to your favorite influencers, had given On a shot.
